KIMBERLEY JUDGE-NASH, BAKER & SUGAR ARTIST
Hi! I'm Kimberley, the face behind 'Nudge Sweet Boutique'.
Baking has always been in my life and I love creating something unique that brings joy to people.
About

Cookies and cakes are thoughtfully designed and decorated with utmost care and attention to detail to create memorable pieces of edible art. Your guests are sure to enjoy and rave about them for years to come!

'Nudge' is a playful combination of my maiden and married surnames. It also took many subtle and not so subtle 'nudges' of encouragement from my biggest supporters - family and friends, to take on this venture into business. After 13 years of perfecting my decorating technique, i'm excited to share my love of baking with you.

My Story
I began learning how to bake at an early age with simple recipes like scones, pikelets and biscuits from my Mum (Leanne) and both my Nannas – Mavis Judge and Nancy Shoemark. It always amazed me how they could quickly whip up a delicious afternoon tea for their visitors with the simplest of ingredients. A visit to Nanna’s was never complete without scones, jam and cream or passionfruit sponge cake!

I entered my first Easter Show baking competition at age 7. My Nan (Nancy Shoemark) grew up on a farm in Rannock, NSW and taking part in the Coolamon Agricultural show was a community tradition. So when the family moved to Sydney in the 60s, the Sydney Royal became their ‘local show’ and my Aunty and Mother took part to continue the now family tradition.

My family and I carry on the tradition of show baking in the annual Sydney Royal Easter Show and have been quite successful over the years with our recipes. I received my 25yr exhibitor honour from the RAS in 2018 and have since introduced both my daughters to the tradition. My daughters and I also now exhibit in our local Camden Show which is a joy to be part of.

From 2009, I became intrigued by the world of decorated cookies and all the possibilities for creative expression. I took it upon myself to bake my largest order to date for our wedding in 2010 - 1,500 cookies! Since then, with the support and encouragement of my family, friends and ever patient husband Rob, it has grown from a hobby into a passion of mine and the start of Nudge Sweet Boutique in 2023.

Favourite Recipe
My gingerbread recipe is probably my favourite as I’ve baked this ever since I was a young girl and I know it by heart! I love converting non-gingerbread eaters over to the dark side with my subtly spiced biscuit. It’s common occurrence for these to disappear quite quickly from the dessert table and it’s rare to have left-overs!
I prefer to decorate with Royal Icing as I love how it gives me more room for creative expression. All my cookies decorated with this icing are hand piped and dry to a crispy meringue finish which compliments the cookies.

With 15 years experience in the events industry, I know that food can make or break an event! I hope to make your event memorable for all the right reasons with a truly unique edible piece of art for your guests to enjoy!

As with show baking, it is important to me that my cookies and cakes not only look good but taste amazing too. I only use quality, fresh ingredients and make my creations to order, to ensure you are receiving the very best!
Show Cakes
These aren't your everyday cakes! Although I have entered the Easter Show perishable cookery competition since I was 7 and dabbled in decorating cakes at a young age it wasn't until my daughter's first birthday that I rediscovered a passion for sugar art. I set myself a challenge each year (time permitting) to enter a show cake to perfect my skills and try out new techniques. They take many, many, many hours, a lot of patience - paying close attention to detail is vital, but it's always a thrill to see them come together and on display for show visitors to enjoy. I don't know if I could pick a favourite, they're all special to me for different reasons.
